Media Center
MISSION:
The mission of the Mater Academy Media Center is to ensure that students and staff are effective users, consumers, and producers of information and ideas. In addition, it is our goal to provide intellectual and physical access to a wide variety of materials in all formats to all members of the school community.

STAFF:
Mrs. K. Ulloa is the media specialists. Ms. M. Macho and Ms. H. Morales are the media center assistants.

HOURS:
The Mater Academy Media Center is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

CIRCULATION
Students
Students must present a student I.D. card to check out materials and use computers. Books from the general collection are circulated for a two-week period. Reserved books, reference books and magazines are for use only in the Media Center. There is a limit of two books that may be checked out at one time; however, with special permission the limit can be extended.

Staff
Teachers are encouraged to use the Media Center for research purposes and to check out as many materials as needed for personal and classroom use. Equipment, books, videos, and other materials circulate on a long-term loan. Reference books and periodicals may also be checked out, but only overnight. If necessary, the loan period may be extended for curriculum support purposes. In order to maximize circulation, it is requested that materials be returned promptly after use.

Fines
Students must pay ten cents per day, excluding holidays and weekends, for overdue materials from the general collection. Any damaged books are subject to a $2.00 to $5.00 fine depending on the degree of damage. If the book is damaged to the degree that it cannot be used again the patron will pay cost of replacement.
Lost textbooks recovered by the Media Center will be subject to a $2.00 re-issue fee.

CONDUCT:
The Media Center is a reference and resource area for classes and individual students. All students are expected to work quietly and exhibit courtesy to all patrons. The Media Center is a quiet study zone! No food or drink is permitted in the Media Center!

LOCATING BOOKS:
To locate books please request the assistance from a Media Center staff member. They will assist to locate the book by author, title or subject. Signs throughout the Media Center identify the various areas of the Dewey classification system. Remember, fiction (novels and short stories) is arranged alphabetically by the author's last name. Biographies are found in the 92's, arranged alphabetically by the subject's last name.
