SUMMER READING IS HERE
READING IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS Dear Parents: The teachers and library staff of the Mater Academy Middle High Schools have compiled a collection of books for our students to enjoy this summer. The purpose of our summer reading program is to encourage reading for pleasure, to expose students to a wide variety of reading materials, to provide rich, imaginative experiences for students while reinforcing reading skills, and to encourage literary discussions among families. Book lists are arranged for the grades students will be entering in the fall. Your child has received a project from their reading teacher which they will turn in within the first two weeks of the 2010-2011 school year. These assignments along with the book titles can be found at our website. Matermiddlehigh.org Our Media Center will be selling a limited quantity of each title. The titles can also be checked out from your public library or bought at your neighborhood bookstore. Mater Academy Media Center Summer Hours: We will be open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. We look forward to seeing parents and students on these days! Have a Wonderful and Safe Summer! |

MetLife Foundation/NASSP Breakthrough Schools
Each year, NASSP, with support from the MetLife Foundation, identifies a series of schools that achieve at high levels despite their high incidence of poverty. Selected schools will receive a $5,000 grant and be featured in the association's monthly magazine, Principal Leadership. Principals of Breakthrough Schools participate in dissemination activities at the NASSP Annual Convention and other venues throughout the year. |
